Job Summary

Conduct one-to-one and group occupational therapy sessions for preschool children with visual impairments, autism, and multiple disabilities, focusing on fine motor skills, adaptive equipment use, and daily living tasks. Record daily session notes, compose quarterly and annual reports, and participate in weekly team meetings. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and staff to reinforce therapy goals while facilitating student independence in sensory processing and self-care. Maintain professional demeanor, complete required health and safety training, and perform assigned duties as requested by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctoral Degree from a College accredited in the field of Occupational Therapy
  • Must successfully pass the National Occupational Therapy Test
  • Register with the National Board for Certification in Occupation Therapy
  • Register with the New York State Office of Professions
  • Earn 36 educational units during their three-year renewal cycle
  • Must be able to lift and/or move children that are up to 50 pounds safely
  • Must be able to safely move children into and out of adaptive equipment, wheelchairs and strollers
  • Complete the 5-hour Health and Safety Training
  • Complete the 2-hour Mandated Reporter Training
  • Complete a total of 15 hours of approved training within the first six months of employment
  • Complete 15 hours of approved training annually following the initial six-month period
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
