Occupational Therapist

Evaluate patients through medical records and clinical observation to develop treatment plans, discharge planning, and goals. Demonstrate competency in patient assessment, goal setting, and implementation of treatment plans while maintaining timely documentation and modifying plans as indicated. Provide relevant information at team and family conferences, home health conferences, and rehab clinic meetings. Assign appropriate treatments to therapy assistants and aides, assess their care, and provide feedback to the Department Head. Act as a preceptor to therapy students and other students, providing feedback to academic directors. Maintain current knowledge of therapy techniques through in-service classes and continuing education courses, sharing knowledge with staff. Seek necessary input from staff, physicians, and other health care professionals to ensure ongoing appropriate patient care. Assume responsibility for patient assignment and problem solving in the absence of the Department Head. Implement and assess quality assurance and utilization review programs to evaluate policy and treatment effectiveness. Market the clinic and uphold a positive community reputation. Work with the hospital for in-patient therapy care in accordance with hospital policies and guidelines. Participate in HIPAA training and awareness programs.
