Job Summary

Initiate skilled occupational therapy treatments in accordance with physician's orders while maintaining required contact with the physician. Maintain written evaluations, progress notes, MDS records, and discharge summaries for individuals in the occupational therapy program. Confer with other health care staff regarding special needs to enhance rehabilitation or maintenance of function. Provide input for Care Planning meetings and attend during absences of the Director of Occupational Therapy. Records and updates individual's care plan and maintains statistical records of treatments. Submit requisition for supplies needed in the treatment of individuals to the Director of Occupational Therapy. Assumes all duties of the Director of Occupational Therapy during absences, including supervision of COTA's and Occupational Therapy Aides, and assumes responsibility for all necessary documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of occupational therapy
  • State license to practice occupational therapy
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
  • Current, valid CPR/BLS credential
  • Sense of responsibility and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members
  • Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work with geriatric and chronically ill residents, as well as other professionals in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years' experience in occupational therapy
  • Interest in occupational therapy treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations utilizing a team approach
  • Ability to direct others necessary

Additional Requirements

  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level is required
