Job Summary
Carry out assessment and evaluation procedures for referred students in accordance with special education and Section 504 regulations. Plan and develop therapeutic intervention goals used in educational and home programs, while ordering, constructing, and adapting equipment to meet student needs. Establish a professional documentation system, maintain the OT equipment budget and inventory, and communicate evaluation results to staff, parents, and agencies. Attend staffing meetings, IEP reviews, and other school meetings as requested, and facilitate professional development for related service staff. Monitor program goals by supervising assistants, para-professionals, and parents involved in intervention implementation. Provide consultation to the educational system regarding student, professional, and system needs. Perform re-evaluations at intervals determined by individual education plans and state regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license
- Certified by the Occupational Therapy Certification Board (OTCB)
- Must be licensed by the state of Rhode Island Department of Health
- Completion of an accredited education program and all field work education requirements
- CPI Training
- Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in working with students from urban area
- Desire to work with elementary, middle and/or high school students and young adults
- Experience working with students with Autism and behavioral/social/emotional challenges
- Experience with diversity preferred
- Successful experience teaching
