Job Summary
Evaluate and treat deficits in occupational performance components including motor, neuro-musculoskeletal, cognitive, social, and psychological dysfunction through individual and group-based purposeful activity, exercise, and adaptive device training. Administer assessment tools, interpret findings to develop intervention plans, and monitor patient responses while modifying treatment as necessary. Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants, design treatment plans, and offer professional guidance to assigned students. Maintain high-quality medical records, collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals, and consult with the section chief or Chief, Occupational Therapy, BAMC for unresolved issues. May travel with patients during traditional duty days using government vehicles.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in occupational therapy from a program in occupational therapy accredited at the time of graduation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or predecessor organization, to include an internship prescribed by the education institution
- Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or US Virgin Islands
- Possess a Basic Life Support Certification
- Minimum three (3) years of experience and training emphasis in orthopedic rehabilitation or acute inpatient care within the United States
- Minimum two (2) years of experience providing direct patient care in occupational therapy rehabilitation
- May be required to travel with patients on rehabilitation and community integration activities
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in Hand Therapy (CHT)
- Experience and proficiency in outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation and hand therapy
- Experience and proficiency in inpatient acute care or acute rehab setting
