Job Summary
Evaluate students by assessing range of motion, muscle strength, tone, sensory systems, and fine motor skills; administer standardized tests and communicate results to parents and teachers. Coordinate individual strategies, accommodations, and adaptive equipment use with a multi-disciplinary team while planning and providing occupational therapy treatment sessions. Prepare daily progress notes, quarterly Medicaid summaries, and IEP updates; select, order, and maintain adaptive equipment for student needs. Supervise interns and OT Assistants; assist in establishing transportation protocols and supervise student transport. Operate power and manual wheelchairs, office equipment, and various tools. Maintain awareness of current professional research and attend training to enhance job knowledge. Respond to inquiries and complaints from staff, parents, and medical personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in occupational therapy, rehabilitation science or related field
- nine to twelve months of experience providing occupational therapy services, preferably in an educational setting
- equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- current, valid certification by the S.C. Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- valid state driver's license
