Job Summary
The COTA delivers occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and supports ADL and mobility-focused treatments for geriatric residents. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, assisting residents with therapeutic exercises, monitoring responses, instructing residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment, maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, participating in interdisciplinary team meetings, and documenting progress in accordance with facility policies and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- 1-2 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric care setting preferred
- Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles and treatment techniques
- Ability to implement therapy plans under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer applications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
- Commitment to HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards
- Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care delivery
