Job Summary
Conduct diagnostic evaluations and treatment for assigned patients to help them reach maximum performance levels within their capabilities. Provide consultation on environmental design, adaptive equipment, and proper patient positioning to prevent contractures. Instruct patients and families in self-care skills including meal preparation, dressing, feeding, and safe transfer techniques. Administer sensor-motor integration treatment and design individualized therapy plans for adult learning-disabled patients. Fabricate splints and adaptive equipment per medical prescriptions while maintaining functional skills through energy conservation and safety training. Work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to carry out treatment plans and assess cognitive and motor abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
- Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Strong customer service orientation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment
- Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements
- Demonstrates the ability to make independent decisions, solve practical problems that may or may not include a variety of concrete variables
- Functions independently with integrity, flexibility and works well with residents, personnel and support agencies
- Demonstrates knowledge of Employee Handbook
