Job Summary
Conduct diagnostic evaluations and treatment for assigned patients to help them reach maximum performance levels and function within their capabilities. Provide consultation on environmental design, adaptive equipment, and patient positioning to prevent contractures while instructing residents in self-care skills for meal preparation, dressing, and feeding. Administer sensor-motor integration techniques, visual perceptual-motor remediation programs, and activities to increase developmental levels, including designing individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients. Fabricate splints and adaptive equipment per medical prescriptions and provide prevention therapy covering energy conservation, joint protection, and safe transfer techniques. Assess cognitive abilities, coordination, and adaptive equipment needs while ensuring compliance with community policies, infection control protocols, and resident confidentiality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
- Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Strong customer service orientation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment
- Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements
- Demonstrates the ability to make independent decisions, solve practical problems that may or may not include a variety of concrete variables
- Functions independently with integrity, flexibility and works well with residents, personnel and support agencies
- Demonstrates knowledge of Employee Handbook
