Job Summary
Conduct diagnostic evaluations and treatment for assigned patients to help them reach maximum functional performance within community limits. Provide consultation on environmental design, adaptive equipment, and proper patient positioning while instructing residents in self-care skills for meal preparation, dressing, and feeding. Administer sensor-motor integration and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs, design individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients, and fabricate splints and slings per medical prescriptions. Assess organizational skills, cognitive abilities, and motor coordination while teaching energy conservation and safety techniques for sensory loss. Work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to carry out treatment plans, instruct families on personal care transfers, and ensure compliance with workplace safety, infection control, and resident confidentiality policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
- Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Strong customer service orientation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment
- Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements
- Demonstrates the ability to make independent decisions, solve practical problems that may or may not include a variety of concrete variables
- Functions independently with integrity, flexibility and works well with residents, personnel and support agencies
- Demonstrates knowledge of Employee Handbook
