Job Summary

Evaluate patients' abilities and limitations to establish treatment goals based on neuromuscular movement, sensation, and activities of daily living. Administer therapy according to established plans, recommending adaptive equipment and completing justification documentation. Re-evaluate patients regularly to assess progress and provide discharge recommendations while collaborating with therapists from other disciplines. Fabricate splints as required and supervise patient care activities performed by aides, assistants, attendants, and volunteers. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of patient care in accordance with established standards. Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, treatment methods, home program execution, and injury prevention strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • As required by licensure
  • Occupational Therapist License
  • BLS for Provider certification from the American Heart Association
  • Able to render patient services and supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA/COTA), Therapy Aides and students
  • Excellent organizational skills to facilitate program development
  • Demonstrates competency, as appropriate to the ages of patients served, in the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patients needs; of knowledge of normal growth and development; and an understanding of the range of the treatment needed
  • Skilled in home program development and family training
  • Knowledge in appropriate selection and use of DME (adaptive equipment.)
  • Computer skills
