Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to maximize independence across physical, cognitive, and developmental domains. Implement occupational therapy interventions and monitor progress by periodically assessing patients to adjust goals and programs as needed. Supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care while documenting findings, progress, and instructions for patients and caregivers. Communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and patients to ensure safe, efficient care aligned with Memorial Hermann standards. May serve as a clinical instructor for interns and present special topics at professional meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
- Availability for 1 weekend day per month
