Job Summary
Occupational Therapist for Acute Care (Adults) responsible for assessing patients, developing and initiating treatment plans to maximize independence in occupational performance, providing direct patient care, documenting findings, and guiding students, interns, and staff. Includes supervising COTAs and rehab technicians, contributing to program development, and presenting topics in professional settings. Requires ability to lift 75–100 pounds, occasional to frequent standing and mobility, and strong communication with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurers. Licensure and BLS certification required; Bachelor's or graduate OT degree and clinical instruction responsibilities are part of the role. Work schedule typically Monday–Friday with one weekend day per month; weekend coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited OT program
- Current license to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
