Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of adult patients, interpreting physical, cognitive, and perceptual findings to develop and initiate individualized treatment plans. Implement occupational therapy programs, provide direct patient care, and document progress in medical records. Supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care treatments while motivating and instructing patients and caregivers. Communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and professional colleagues to ensure safe, efficient care. May serve as a clinical instructor for interns and present special topics at department meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Occasional or frequent lifting up to 75-100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
- Monday - Friday schedule
- 8:30am - 4:30pm OR 9:30am - 5:30pm shift
- 1 weekend day per month
