Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients to assess physical, cognitive, and developmental skills, then develop and initiate individualized treatment plans. Implement occupational therapy programs, provide direct patient care, and document findings, progress, and instructions for patients and caregivers. Supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care treatments while periodically assessing patients to monitor progress and alter goals as indicated. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance companies, and present special topics at professional meetings. Motivate and instruct patients and caregivers using appropriate methods, ensuring safe care while adhering to all hospital policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- The position requires occasional or frequent lifting up to 75-100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- The ability to receive oral and written communication
- To communicate verbally and in writing
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Recognize alphanumeric characters
- Distinguish colors
- Observe physical characteristics
- Monday - Friday
- 8:30am - 4:30pm OR 9:30am - 5:30pm
- 1 weekend day per month
