Job Summary

Conduct evaluations on referred patients and implement comprehensive treatment programs including discharge planning, patient/family education, and follow-up recommendations. Document evaluation results and services provided per hospital guidelines while participating in self-directed and interdisciplinary patient care teams. Provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students and train department and hospital staff. Perform routine patient evaluation and treatment, manage time, and report during interdisciplinary rounds. Progress to Clinician II status within two years. Work includes Saturday/holiday coverage on a rotating basis and flexibility in hours as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist
  • Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation
  • Maintenance of licensure once granted
  • Current CPR Certification
  • New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy

Desired Qualifications

  • Progress to an Occupational Therapist Clinician II level within two years of employment as an Occupational Therapist at VCUHS
  • Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility
  • Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy
