Job Summary

Occupational Health Nurse responsible for travel immunizations and health consultations for federal employees and eligible family members preparing for overseas assignments and international travel. Responsibilities include assessing travel health risks, administering vaccinations, educating on preventive measures, maintaining accurate vaccination records, and coordinating with overseas medical personnel. The role involves immunization administration, travel health guidance, and routine clinical nursing duties across Washington, DC and Arlington, VA with rotating schedule between sites (16-24 hours/week, weekdays 08:00-16:30). Expectation to stay current with international health regulations and vaccination requirements; utilize standing orders with physicians; maintain documentation and patient records; collaborate with CDC/WHO/ACIP references and Travax for care plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia and Washington DC (DC license required separately; DC is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact)
  • Graduation from a NLN-accredited School of Nursing
  • Proficient in phlebotomy
  • Proficient in IM and SQ injections
  • Current BLS/AED recognized by the American Heart Association
  • Background in international travel immunizations and travel health requirements
  • Experience performing audiometric testing is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work at two sites (DC and Arlington VA) and rotate between locations
  • U.S. Citizenship or eligibility for MRPT background investigation
  • Nursing role requires ability to meet physical demands (CPR, emergency response)
