Occupational Health Nurse

Job Summary
Assess and treat occupational illnesses and injuries within a poultry complex, administering first aid, nursing care, and post-offer drug screenings. Review employee medical histories, make referral recommendations per protocol, and manage respiratory protection, first responder, and bloodborne pathogen programs. Partner with workers' compensation adjusters and providers to resolve claims, conduct accident investigations, and represent the site in litigation proceedings. Maintain accurate OSHA and injury records in an electronic medical record, manage medical supplies, and lead ergonomics initiatives by analyzing injury data and implementing improvement efforts. Serve on the Safety and Ergonomics committee, conduct new hire safety orientations, and educate employees on preventative health. Work unusual shifts including holidays and weekends in hot, dusty, or noisy environments, lifting up to 40 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current, active and unrestricted state license
- Minimum three (3) years' nursing experience
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA standards and recordkeeping requirement
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to keep sensitive information confidential and to appropriately handle critical situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment using excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail
- Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to work unusual shifts (holidays, weekends and extended ) as needed
- Ability to move about the facilities in hot/ dusty or cold/ humid and noisy environments as needed
- Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Occupational health experience
- Highly qualified LPN with strong work experience
- Multi-lingual
- Experienced in Workers Compensation administration and case management within a manufacturing plant
- Highly effective written/verbal and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external customers
