Job Summary
Conduct pre-employment screenings, diagnose and treat work-related injuries and exposures, and manage return-to-work evaluations with minimal supervision. Coordinate patient care by arranging specialist referrals, monitoring recovery progress, and maintaining thorough electronic medical record documentation. Provide preventive health counseling on workplace safety, exposure prevention, and immunizations while analyzing injury data to identify safety intervention targets. Act as the primary clinical resource for OEH matters, collaborating with Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, and Infection Control to ensure regulatory compliance. Develop and review clinical protocols, standing orders, and documentation standards to ensure high-quality, legally compliant care. Participate in quality improvement efforts by tracking clinical outcomes and implementing data-driven policy improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited educational program for nurse practitioners
- At least two years of current clinical experience in adult practice
- Prior experience in Occupational and Employee Health
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with authorization by the Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in an expanded role
- Registration with the ANCC or other accrediting organization for Nurse Practitioners
- Registration with the State of Massachusetts and DEA for prescription writing privileges
- Current BLS Certification
- Expert knowledge of clinical decision-making frameworks and ability to apply them independently in an occupational health setting, without routine on-site supervision
- Skill in analyzing clinical information and applying structured problem-solving methods
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in both verbal and written English
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and the ability to develop and deliver tailored patient and employee education
- Skill in organizing and managing clinical workflows
- Ability to collaborate across clinical and non-clinical departments
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHRs) and occupational health software platforms to input, retrieve, and analyze health data
