Job Summary
Direct Support Professionals provide comprehensive care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, focusing on personal care, food preparation, environmental maintenance, and individual development. Responsibilities include administering medications, assisting with daily living activities, teaching communication and life skills, and participating in program planning. The role requires knowledge of active treatment programs and adherence to safety standards. Certification in AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR, and First Aid is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to provide direct services to adults with developmental disabilities
- Currently AMAP certified or able to become certified within six months of hire
- Currently SCIP-R certified or able to become certified within six months of hire
- Currently CPR and First Aid certified or able to become certified within six months
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely
Desired Qualifications
- Direct Care experience with people with mental and/or physical disabilities.
- AMAP certified
- SCIP-R certified
- CPR/SFA certified
Additional Requirements
- Current clean New York State driver's license might be required depending on the shift
