Job Summary
Prepare sterile fields, set up instruments, and assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, and draping during routine, emergency, or cesarean deliveries. Pass instruments, hold retractors, and anticipate surgical needs while distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance. Adhere to aseptic technique, local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety. Perform specific procedures and orient staff as needed. Work nights on a variable schedule, every other weekend, with full-time 32-hour hours. Handle hazardous drugs in accordance with NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- HS Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program
- Military training as a scrub tech
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of OB/GYN tools, procedures, views, and equipment
- Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Adheres to aseptic technique at all times

- Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
- Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options

- Identify principles and demonstrate techniques of disinfection, sterilization and environmental control measures
- Perform this role competently during an emergency situation
