Job Summary
OB Technician provides professional accountability and technical support for the OB patients experience under Nursing and Medical Staff; performs a wide variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support and surgical assistance. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team and supports unit goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks essential to patient care, including maintenance of patient records, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, ensuring adequate supplies, phlebotomy, specimen transport, obtain blood glucose, Birth Certificate entry, and other duties as assigned. Provides supportive care with ADL assistance to newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, and pediatric patients; remains calm and effective through obstetrical emergencies; may be required to take call.
Required Qualifications
- High-School Diploma or GED are required
- Surgical Technology experience required at hire or completion of a unit-based competency within 4 months of hire
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- English proficiency (written and spoken) required
