Job Summary
OB Technician provides patient care and technical support in the obstetrical unit under Nursing/Medical Staff, performing a wide range of duties related to patient care, clerical tasks, and surgical assistance; supports the nursing team and patients with ADL's for newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, and pediatric patients, assists with phlebotomy, specimen transport, Birth Certificate entry, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, and maintaining supplies; maintains composure during obstetrical emergencies and may be required to take call; works as part of a team to meet unit goals.
Required Qualifications
- High-School Diploma or GED
- No active Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) required but may have attended accredited surgical tech program
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Surgical Technology experience required at hire or completion of a unit-based competency within 4 months of hire
- Must understand English both written and spoken
