Job Summary
The OB Technician / Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing the dual role of Scrub Technician during cesarean sections and providing bedside care to OB and Newborn patients. Key responsibilities include maintaining sterile fields, assisting with surgical procedures, providing basic nursing care, monitoring patients, and ensuring timely communication with the healthcare team. The position requires effective interpersonal skills, the ability to perform under pressure, and a commitment to patient confidentiality. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, clinical experience in OB/L&D, and a valid BLS certification, with a preference for those holding a CNA certification and surgical technology training.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (preferred) or willingness to enroll
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as an Operating Room Scrub Technician (in lieu of education)
- Two (2) years of clinical experience in the OB, L&D Unit
- Valid American Heart Association certification in BLS
- Must successfully pass Employee Health requirements
