Job Summary
Conduct OB and Med/Surg nursing care in a critical access hospital setting, floating between units as needed. Manage labor and delivery, postpartum, and medical surgical patients with 1:1 to 1:5 ratios while working independently in charge nurse capacity. Provide Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program skills, including Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring, during 12-hour day shifts. Maintain ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications while adhering to a schedule of every third weekend and holiday rotations. Requires 24 months of Med/Surg experience, 12 months total with 3 months recent, and a valid Iowa or compact license.
Required Qualifications
- 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months
- 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience
- 3 months of Epic experience
- ADN completion
- Iowa license or compact license
- COVID vaccination
- COVID booster
- Ability to work independently in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and Med/Surg
- Previous charge nurse experience
- Ability to work in charge nurse capacity as back-up
- Must be able to float between Med/Surg and OB
- Would float to Med/Surg as helping hands if OB is closed
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program – 8th Edition)
- Intermediate AWHONN FHM (Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring) or the alternative certification Advanced AWHONN FHM
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- 1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 3 years
- 1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months
- Proof of identification
