Job Summary
The position requires performing all station shift operation and maintenance, including startup and shutdown of main plant components while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Responsible for routine mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance under supervision, alongside maintaining accuracy of operational logs and records. Must effectively communicate with team members and external personnel, facilitating safety orientations and pre-job briefs. The role necessitates a proactive approach to safety and includes maintaining housekeeping standards, troubleshooting mechanical issues related to cooling systems, and becoming a subject matter expert on assigned systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid state driver’s license and have a good driving record
- Universal Refrigerant License is required
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications
- Ability to read and write effectively in English and to do basic mathematics
- Knowledge of and experience in Standard Operating Procedures, Pre-Job Briefs, Job Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessments and LOTO
- Four (4) years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of Centrifugal Chillers, Water Treatment, Cooling Towers, Air Houses and Gas fired equipment
- Possess experience removing, adding, trimming, reclaiming of refrigerants from refrigeration equipment
- Troubleshooting, testing, repairing, diagnosing, replacing of parts, components, and refrigerant leaks on equipment cooling units is required
- Knowledge of power plant mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pumps, fluid systems, chemical handling, water treatment systems, AC and DC electrical distribution and control systems and associated maintenance functions
Desired Qualifications
- Four (4) years of power plant experience in operations and maintenance
- Experience using Maximo and Leido’s HIM controls
- Ability to complete site specific written qualification program
- Knowledge of chiller plant safety, policies, and procedures, especially in areas such as chemical handling, high energy systems, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, first aid, rotating machinery, and heavy equipment
- Knowledge of and ability to understand fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, AC & DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermal dynamics, and chemistry
- Knowledge of and experience in pipefitting, welding, machining, rigging, rotating machine repair, fabrication, machine alignment, basic vibration analysis, and using electrical test equipment
- Knowledge of chemistry and Chiller plant chemical applications. Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards, and other devices associated with power plants
- Ability to use basic hand tools, portable electric and pneumatic tools, and basic rigging equipment such as winches, hoists, and slings
