Job Summary
O&M Technician at a Cogeneration Facility in San Diego, CA. Responsible for operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance of complex equipment including Gas Turbine, Heat Recovery Boiler, back-up boilers, and multiple chillers. Performs safety-focused tasks, maintains operating logs and reports, coordinates with Plant Management and Contractors, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Must ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and contractual requirements; requires strong technical knowledge across gas turbines, mechanical/electrical systems, DCS/PLC, and CMMS, plus solid planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 5 years related technical experience in operations and maintenance
- Demonstrated understanding of plant operations
- Strong understanding of Gas Turbines, Steam, Mechanical Chillers, Cooling Towers, Water Treatment, DCS, PLC Technology, Mechanical Systems, Hydraulics, Electricity and Electronics
- Understanding of accounting systems as related to work orders, PMs, and spare parts inventories
- Competent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Solid knowledge of plant engineering and plant maintenance functions and how they relate to operations
- Demonstrated skill in planning, coordinating, and directing varied programs and tasks affecting overall plant operation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings (blueprints, P&IDs, single-line diagrams) and troubleshoot
