Job Summary
Develop furniture layouts, renderings, and detailed specifications from initial concepts through final installation for commercial workplace projects. Collaborate with the sales team, dealers, architects, and end users to transform ideas into functional solutions while participating in client meetings and contributing design expertise throughout the sales process. Split time between the New York City showroom and remote work, utilizing CET Designer and AutoCAD to produce accurate plans and presentation materials that balance creativity, functionality, and precision.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, industrial design, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience designing commercial workplace environments for a contract furniture manufacturer, dealership, or architecture and design (A&D) firm
- Proficiency in CET Designer and AutoCAD, with the ability to develop accurate furniture plans, specifications, installation drawings, and presentation materials
- Demonstrated experience creating workplace solutions through space planning, furniture specification, finish selection, renderings, and client presentations
- Strong understanding of contract furniture systems, ancillary products, workplace planning principles, and the design process from concept through installation
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, and project requirements while balancing design intent, budget, schedule, and functionality
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and consistently deliver high-quality work
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the confidence to collaborate with sales professionals, dealers, architects, designers, project managers, and end users
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team-first culture
- A passion for thoughtful design, continuous learning, and creating exceptional client experiences
- Willingness to travel occasionally throughout New York and New Jersey for client meetings, project support, training, and industry events
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Revit, SketchUp, CAP, Giza, Adobe Creative Suite, or other visualization software
- Experience specifying products from multiple commercial furniture manufacturers
- Familiarity with current workplace design trends, commercial building standards, and evolving ways people work
