Job Summary
Skilled Mainline Excavator Operator responsible for safe and efficient operation of the excavator during road construction. Operates the Hoe and other heavy equipment, conducts daily maintenance and safety checks, performs pre-operational checks, and collaborates with ground personnel for trenching and pipe installation (water, storm, sanitary sewer). Ensures trench depth/grade, proper rigging of pipe and manhole components, and adheres to OH&S requirements. Trains employees in safe operation, follows the Code of Ethics, and promotes the company safety program in a outdoor, weather-affected work environment. The role includes operating on public roadways, handling grading tasks, and supporting production timelines while maintaining situational awareness and safe work procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Class 5 driver's license required
- Minimum 3-5 years experience within the road construction industry
- Minimum of 5 years experience operating a Mainline Hoe is required
- Class 1 or 3 driver's license considered an asset
- Weather dependent schedule, Monday to Saturday, up to 12 hours
- Out of town travel may be required, accommodations and Live Out Allowance may be applicable
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program
- Work in an outdoor setting, exposure to inclement weather, dust and asphalt
