Job Summary
Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities living in their home, under supervision of the Residential Coordinator. Responsibilities include implementing the Person-Centered Plan, coordinating with families and planning teams, teaching and supporting daily living skills (household tasks, meal planning, budgeting), assisting with medication administration when needed, providing or supporting First Aid/CPR, facilitating social activities, documenting services in an electronic system, and ensuring safety and compliance with policies. Skills emphasized include person-centered communication, teamwork, documentation, and ability to transport or accompany individuals to appointments or activities. The role may involve mobility training, safety checks, and collaboration with the support team to help residents live with less supervision and participate in their community.
Required Qualifications
- Min of a high school diploma, GED, and/or IEP
- 1 year of experience in intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Medication Administration Certification is preferred but will be required by end of introductory period
- Must pass all required trainings and new hire orientation classes
- Computer skills required for documentation
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving ability
- Background checks and drug testing requirements
- Bilingual in any language a plus
