Nuuly Director of Inventory Planning and Exit Strategy

Job Summary
Lead the Inventory Planning team and own strategy for post-Rent inventory exit across Thrift, Marketplace, Reclectic, and external resale partners. Determine optimal destination, timing, volume, and sequencing of inventory to maximize financial recovery and productivity. Develop routing strategies based on demand, sell-through, margin, and channel capacity while owning pricing frameworks for initial pricing, markdowns, and promotions. Forecast exit-channel capacity needs and build business cases for expansion, evaluating Reclectic growth against other disposition strategies. Partner with Merchandise Planning, Finance, Engineering, and Data Science to define scalable decision-support tools and establish closed-loop feedback processes.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in inventory planning, merchandise planning, financial planning, retail strategy, e-commerce, resale, or a related discipline
- Significant leadership experience developing teams and influencing senior cross-functional partners
- Deep understanding of inventory planning, forecasting, sell-through, inventory aging, margin, markdowns, pricing, and inventory productivity
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to evaluate inventory decisions based on both financial and operational outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to use complex data to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and make clear business recommendations
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and executive presentation skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience evaluating or developing new channels, marketplaces, partnerships, or revenue opportunities
- Experience partnering with Engineering, Buying, Data Science, and Analytics to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions
- Strong understanding of e-commerce, marketplace, outlet, off-price, resale, or recommerce dynamics
