Job Summary
Public health nutritionist for WIC program providing nutritional assessment, education and counseling to individuals and groups, primarily prenatal and pediatric clinics. Serves as a resource on nutrition and dietetics to nurses, health educators and other health care providers. Requires evaluating and certifying eligibility for WIC, counseling on breastfeeding and nutrition, and coordinating with local health departments and community providers. Works under general supervision with Monday–Friday 8:00–4:30 schedule in Beckley/Bluefield area locations (Beckley WV; Bluefield WV; Raleigh WIC in Beckley; Mercer WIC in Bluefield).
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics or public health nutrition; or a bachelor's degree in a related field with 12 hours in nutrition
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of dietetics, nutrition, breastfeeding; ability to counsel; ability to develop educational materials; ability to communicate effectively
