Job Summary
Prepare wholesome, nutritious meals in sufficient quantities to meet scheduled meal times and record accurate points of meals served for each meal or snack. Maintain inventories of food supplies according to the current menu, order new supplies, and ensure organization and cleanliness of the kitchen. Comply with health and safety standards by recording refrigerator and freezer temperatures twice daily, keeping cleaning supplies and food separate, and completing weekly kitchen checklists. Submit the CACFP food report and food service data on a daily and weekly basis. Work under the direction of the Center Manager to promote ESNG values, communicate effectively with management, and deliver meals to classrooms while standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- direct food preparation experience
- ability to comprehend and implement recipes
- ability to operate commercial kitchen appliances

- knowledge of health and safety practices for food preparation and clean-up
- ability to prepare meals by the allocated meal times
- ability to direct the work of others
- ability to unpack and move food items after delivery and during food preparation
- ability to stand for sustained periods of time
- ability to sit for sustained periods of time
- ability to walk for sustained periods of time including delivering meals to classrooms and responding quickly to safety concerns if needed
- ability to use hands and fingers to cook, stir, open containers, feel, operate a computer, and perform picking, pinching and whole hand or arm handling tasks
- ability to climb stairs
- ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed when working in a food preparation environment
- ability to reach, extending arms in any direction
- ability to push or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- ability to lift and carry food containers and cooking equipment as needed up to 50 pounds
- ability to talk in order to accurately exchange information
- ability to hear in order to accurately exchange information
- ability to see clearly in order to maintain cooking and food safety and supervision, use a computer, and for reading and writing
- ability to work in indoor conditions
