Job Summary
Prepare, distribute, inventory, and order all patient formula and breast milk under the guidance of a Registered Dietitian. Recognize weight measurements, medical terminology, and age-related factors influencing formula choices. Maintain sterile technique and sanitation in the formula room while calculating recipes to adjust volumes per instructions. Read, write, and perform necessary math skills to follow preparation guidelines. Prepare and deliver infant formulas and breast milk as ordered. Inventories and maintains sufficient infant feeding room stock. Regularly interacts with dietitians, nurses, unit clerks, foodservice personnel, patients, and family members. Recognize and interpret instructions for changes in formula and breast milk. Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA/Safety Regulations and Nemours Standards of Behavior. Complete specified competencies within 90 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Completed training in a related medical field (i.e. Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant or Food Services field)
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience
- Valid American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Complete specified competencies within 90 days of hire date
- Monday - Sunday 8:30am-5:00pm or 10:00am-6:30pm including holiday and hurricane coverage rotation
Desired Qualifications
- Recognizes weights and measures and has a working knowledge of medical terminology
- Maintains sterile technique during formula and breast milk preparation
- Follows the standards of formula preparation as described in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 'Guidelines for Preparations of Human Milk and Formula in Health Care Facilities'
- Able to read, write and perform necessary mathematical skills to correctly calculate and follow formula and breast milk recipes and prepare infant formulas
- Prepares and delivers all infant formulas and breast milk as ordered
- Inventories and maintains sufficient infant feeding room stock
- Maintains sanitation in formula room area
- Recognizes all of the age- related factors that may contribute to formula choices
- Recognizes and interprets instructions for changes in formula and breast milk and readjusts volumes accordingly
- Regularly interacts with dietitians, nurses, unit clerks, foodservice personnel, patients, and family members
- Remains knowledgeable of HIPPA and OSHA/Safety Regulations
- Supports the concepts and principles of Patient and Family Centered Care
- Adheres to the Nemours Standards of Behavior
