Job Summary
Nutrition Services Associate works 5 hours per day during the school day to support production, preparation, and service of meals under the food service manager’s guidance. Responsibilities include operating computerized point of sale equipment to process meals, adhering to safety standards in handling, storing, and serving food, assisting with cleanup of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria and dishroom, and following department standards for meal accounting (reimbursement and ala carte sales). The role requires independent work and time management within contracted hours, interaction with students in a positive and professional manner, participation in job-related trainings, and collaboration with other staff. Experience in institutional or school food service is helpful, and Serve Safe certification must be completed within one year of hire. The district emphasizes a diverse, student-centered culture and provides benefits consistent with the contract.
Required Qualifications
- high school graduate or GED
- Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds, stand 3-6 hours, bending twisting, repetitive motions
- Experience in institutional food service operations or school foodservice helpful
- Must complete Serve Safe course and pass exam with 70% within 1 year of hire
- Previous knowledge of point of sale experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and take initiative within contracted hours
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Experience with diverse school community preferred
