Job Summary
Nutrition Services Associate works 4 hours per day during the school day to assist in production, preparation, and service of food under the food service manager's instruction. Responsibilities include processing meals through the computerized POS system, accounting for meals, maintaining cleanliness of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria and dishroom, and adhering to safety standards in handling, preparation, storage, and service of food. Requires ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for 3-6 hours, and complete Serve Safe coursework within one year. Prior experience in institutional or school foodservice and knowledge of POS systems are preferred. The role supports a diverse school community and involves teamwork, attending training classes, interacting professionally with students, and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- high school graduate or GED
- Basic arithmetic, reading, writing
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand 3-6 hours
- Experience in institutional food service operations and/or school foodservice helpful
- Must complete Serve Safe course and pass exam within 1 year of hire date
- Previous knowledge of POS preferred
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete duties within contracted hours
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Experience working with diverse school community preferred
