Job Summary
Comply with district, department, and federal Child Nutrition policies, health standards, and sanitation procedures while preparing food according to planned menus and standardized recipes. Operate quantity food service equipment including ovens, griddles, steamers, and mixers to complete production tasks accurately. Serve students during meal times, restock serving lines, and act as cashier using the point-of-sale system to perform basic accounting duties. Complete assigned paperwork such as production and sanitation records, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and fill in for absent staff including travel to satellite locations. Maintain high personal hygiene standards and follow established sanitation guidelines for food preparation and clean-up.
Required Qualifications
- Physically able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods and to walk much of the time during the day
- Must be able to read recipes and follow instructions for food preparation
- Able to tolerate a warm, noisy work environment
- Maintains high standards of personal hygiene and job performance
- Is honest and dependable and is discreet in regard to information concerning school children and staff
- Must have manual dexterity to handle knives and other pieces of equipment
- Is able to work calmly and complete jobs in a timely manner, even under sometimes stressful conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs
- Valid driver's license and vehicle for required travel
