Job Summary
Perform kitchen food prep, clean up, and record-keeping duties at the Meals on Wheels Kitchen or Congregate Dining Centers. Serve as a substitute driver for home-delivered meal routes and act as a backup for the Dining Center Manager, including supervising volunteers and managing meal service. This part-time role (15 hrs/wk) is located in Erving, MA, with flexible assignments across Franklin County and North Quabbin. Bilingual candidates receive a 6% pay differential.
Required Qualifications
- Flexibility and the ability to enjoy a variety of job assignments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Mathematical competence and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service and administrative skills
- Cooking skills to primarily reheat pre-prepared foods
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable, insured transportation
- Willingness to travel to some sites in our service area
- Capacity to communicate verbally with co-workers, supervisors, & consumers
- Capacity to hear and speak on the telephone
- Capacity to drive a vehicle
- Capacity to drive in all weather conditions to deliver meals to clients in their homes
- Capacity to navigate uneven terrain in all weather conditions to deliver meals to clients in their homes
- Capacity to climb stairs
- Ability to stand for duration of shift
- Occasional reaching and grabbing objects with both hands, twisting of hand and wrist, and pushing and pulling of objects
- Occasional bending, squatting, and twisting to perform work functions
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
- Ability to understand and/or interpret program instructions and laws
- Capacity to do mathematical calculations
- Capacity to produce standard reports
- Capacity to deal rationally and calmly with varying personalities
- Capacity to work well in fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Must be able to tolerate odors and pollutants including but not limited to smoke, air fresheners, pet dander, personal odors, etc. from a variety of in-home conditions
- Must be able to tolerate heat and cold of seasonal changes and indoor temperatures
