Job Summary
Coordinate the planning, preparation, and serving of meals while managing the total kitchen operation in the Manager's absence. Accept major responsibility for actual cooking, work in the food serving line, and ensure proper standards for food quality and sanitary conditions are maintained. Assist with weighing, measuring, and mixing foods to comply with Federal Regulations, conduct monthly inventory of supplies, and attend six hours of annual continuing education. Perform all duties of the Manager when needed and complete required certification for school food service personnel.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma, GED certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a GED as required by Kentucky law
- one year food service experience
- ability to understand oral and written directions
- knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in food preparation
- knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in food preparation
- completion of training course for certification of beginning school food service personnel as prescribed in 702 KAR 6:045
- annual re-certification
