Job Summary
Cook/Assistant Chef responsible for preparing patient meals according to authorized menus in a sanitized healthcare setting. Duties include preparing and directing food items per schedules, labeling and dating leftovers, maintaining sanitation of equipment and storage areas, preparing special items and meals, ensuring trays are attractively presented with correct flavor and temperature, monitoring temperatures of food and refrigeration equipment, assisting in inventory and shortages, training/mentoring Nutrition Services staff as needed, and enforcing policies to ensure patient safety and compliance with regulations. Must uphold food production standards and support teamwork within the Nutrition Services department.
Required Qualifications
- Current state Food Manager Certificate
- Experience in quality food preparation and production in either long-term care or healthcare setting is preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
