Job Summary
Prepare food based on daily menus using health and sanitation procedures, including proper hand washing and surface sanitization. Deliver meals from the central kitchen to classrooms in correct proportions and provide necessary supplies. Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen areas after every use, while maintaining accurate temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers. Create warm relationships with children and families, review transportation sheets, and log menu changes. Communicate issues to supervisors and fill out meal incident reports. Reheat food safely when needed and attend staff meetings. Perform duties under the direct supervision of the Head Cook and indirect supervision of the Assistant Cook.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must enroll in at least 3 units of Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university per semester, until 12 units are successfully completed with a grade of C or better
- One year of Early Childhood classroom experience
- Cooking/food preparation experience
- Experience working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively in a high stress environment
- Physical examination and TB clearance
- Proof of immunization for Measles and Pertussis
- Flu vaccination
- LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance
- Must be able to communicate in English with proficiency
- Current certificates for Pediatric First Aid and CPR
- Completion of a total of 15 hours of preventative health and safety training
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds

Desired Qualifications
- ECE units/Child Development Permit
- Volunteer or paid experience in lieu of one year of Early Childhood classroom experience

- Completion of this 15 hours of preventative health and safety training within 90 days of hire
