Job Summary
The Nutrition Assistant/Cook is responsible for meal preparation following daily menus, maintaining sanitation procedures in the kitchen, and managing prescribed records related to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The role includes verifying receipts for supplies, assisting in transportation as needed, and recruiting and training volunteer cook aides. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED; an associate degree is preferred, and will require experience in food service. Certifications in First Aid and CPR, as well as a negative Tuberculosis test, are mandatory. Extensive travel and adherence to agency policies regarding background checks and drug testing are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Negative Tuberculosis Screen
- First Aid certification
- CPR certification with emphasis on children and toddlers
- Pass criminal background check
- Subject to drug and alcohol testing
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in food service
- Specialized training in food service
- Valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record
Additional Requirements
- Extensive travel required in the area; must be able to travel outside project area as assigned
- May come into contact with childhood diseases and blood on occasion
