Job Summary
Nutrition Assistant Certifier I is responsible for WIC participant enrollment, termination, orientation, voucher delivery and maintaining client files, plus preliminary risk assessment and basic nutrition education. Duties include documenting counseling sessions and program records, making referrals to health or community services, clerical support for the nutrition program, attending meetings, breastfeeding promotion and community nutrition education, and travel as needed. Requires strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse populations, ability to conduct screenings, determine WIC eligibility, issue vouchers, and maintain patient rights and confidentiality. Requires High School diploma or GED, one year WIC-related experience, HIV/AIDS course, Medical Assistant-Registered Certification for hemoglobin testing, CPR/BLS certification within required timelines, TB testing, and ability to work in Western Washington with travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED diploma
- One year experience as WIC receptionist and/or in WIC program
- 7-hour HIV/AIDS course required by State
- Medical Assistant-Registered Certification required for Hemoglobin testing
- Staff must obtain Basic Life Support CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain
- TB test annually and annual influenza vaccine
- Completion of Minimum Paraprofessional Competencies within WIC/Nutrition Policies and Procedures
- Background check from Washington State Patrol
