Job Summary
Prepare food based on daily menus using health and sanitation procedures, including washing hands and sanitizing preparation areas. Deliver meals to classrooms in correct proportions from the central kitchen and provide necessary supplies. Clean and sanitize dishes after every use, maintain refrigerator and kitchen areas, and ensure accurate temperature logging. Review transportation sheets, log changes, and communicate issues to supervisors or managers. Fill out meal incident reports for food quality and quantity concerns. Reheat food safely when needed and attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities. Create warm relationships with children and families while working under the supervision of the Head Cook.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must enroll in at least 3 units of Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university per semester, until 12 units are successfully completed with a grade of C or better
- One year of Early Childhood classroom experience
- Cooking/food preparation experience
- Experience working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively in a high stress environment
- Physical examination and TB clearance
- Proof of immunization for Measles and Pertussis
- Flu vaccination
- LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance
- Must be able to communicate in English with proficiency
- Current certificates for Pediatric First Aid and CPR
- Completion of a total of 15 hours of preventative health and safety training
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds

Desired Qualifications
- ECE units/Child Development Permit
- Volunteer or paid experience in lieu of one year of Early Childhood classroom experience

- Completion of this 15 hours of preventative health and safety training within 90 days of hire
