Nursing Unit Assistant

Job Summary
Conduct clerical and receptionist functions to support client care delivery, including transcribing physician orders, coordinating appointments and transportation, and managing client admissions and discharges. Assemble and maintain client charts, compile statistics, and distribute reports using relevant computer systems while maintaining inventory and filing systems. Communicate effectively with other departments and hospitals to prioritize requests and ensure accurate information flow. This role operates within a client and family centred model at Vancouver Coastal Health, requiring a Grade 12 education, medical terminology knowledge, and a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one year of related experience.

- equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to keyboard 40 w.p.m
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications
