Job Summary
Provide direct, hands-on care for critically ill or injured patients in pre-and postoperative medical settings while assessing risks and rendering life-saving treatment in emergencies. Organize, plan, and supervise coordinated patient care within the unit, delegating tasks to licensed nurses and patient care technicians. Evaluate nursing interventions, identify staff strengths and weaknesses, and manage conflict on assigned shifts. Promote evidence-based practice by adopting nursing protocols and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Collaborate with unit leadership to support daily clinical operations, including effective scheduling, staffing, and resource availability. Manage priorities in stressful situations while maintaining objectivity and professional communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN)
- 1 year of relevant experience as a registered nurse
- 2 years of experience as an LPN in an acute care setting
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Ability to handle end-of-life issues such as when to cease life-prolonging interventions or organ donation decisions
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work in stressful situations
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
