Nursing Supervisor- Assisted Living

Job Summary

Direct day-to-day nursing activities of the Assisted Living unit, including supervising, planning, organizing, implementing, directing, and evaluating staff. Maintain 24-hour service coverage in accordance with federal, state, and local standards while assisting the Director of Nursing with staffing, scheduling, payroll, and unit coverage as needed. Participate in care planning, policy development, and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance and resident safety. Investigate incidents and accidents thoroughly, monitor the Nurse Call Alert System, and maintain accurate electronic charting. Manage employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions while ensuring all nursing issues are addressed per DON designation. Work the assigned shift of 8am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 5pm, including weekends and holidays, with availability to float to other units or cover vacations and call-outs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey state Registered Nursing license
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Nursing Supervisor in an assisted living facility
  • Experience in a long term care facility or other related health care facility
  • Must be able to pass the facility's physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter
  • Competent in supervision and leadership
  • Ability to work in cooperation with other staff members
  • Strong leadership qualities that promote team building, professionalism and organizational dedication
  • Adaptable to change and able to meet crisis and emergencies
  • Ability to work under pressure with interruptions
  • Tactful and courteous with residents, families, practitioners and others
  • Ability to lift, move and carry of supplies and equipment
  • Ability to perform the essential duties associated with this position, either with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Understanding of affection for, and a desire to work with the aging
  • Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing with residents, families, co-workers, other professionals and the public
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours
  • Ability to work on weekends and holidays when necessary
  • Must be able to work the assigned shift of 8am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 5pm
  • Must cover assigned shifts on a regular basis, including holidays
  • Must be available to cover vacations/call outs of other supervisors and/or DON on occasion

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electronic charting, EMAR and ETAR
