Job Summary
Oversee staff and ensure adequate patient care in the Critical Care Unit, including hiring, onboarding, evaluating, coaching, and developing employees. Direct the nursing process to assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate patient care while administering medications, managing IV lines, and consulting with physicians. Provide direct patient care for stroke patients by implementing specific protocols, activating alerts, and educating families on illness management and home care needs. Ensure compliance with policies, maintain financial stewardship through budget accountability, and participate in quality improvement initiatives and department committees.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years ICU experience
- BSN
- Legally licensed to work as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Basic Life Support BLS Healthcare Provider Training Course
- Registered Nurse (RN) - License, State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure
- Must obtain a certification in their respective area of expertise within 1 year of hire or promotion date for magnet standards
- Knowledge of Stroke symptoms and warning signs
- Knowledge of Protocols and pathways used to identify, evaluate and management of stroke patients
- Knowledge of NIHSS
- Knowledge of Stroke Alert activation and protocol
- Knowledge of Stroke quality indicators
- Knowledge of Available stroke patient education materials and community resources
- Knowledge of Educational requirements
- Knowledge of Stroke Center website resources
Desired Qualifications
- 3 years, Registered Nurse (RN)
