Job Summary
Schedule and coordinate paperwork for patient and doctor appointments, then assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests. Perform patient triage, review charts, check patients in, and record vital signs, weight, and lab samples. Administer medications, apply sterile dressings, and educate patients on disease nature and proper care. Maintain nursing charge databases, stock clinical supplies, and process laboratory specimens using established protocols. Adhere to safety, infection control, and Medicare compliance standards while participating in in-service education and emergency response tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited CNA, LPN, or Medical Assistant program
- State of Idaho LPN license in good standing
- Current CNA/CMA/MA certification
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories
- Knowledge of clinical and/or surgical operations and documentation
- Skill in performing clinical and medical procedures
- Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures
- Ability to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
- Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids
- Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
- Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress
- Ability to lift or move patients of various weights
- Moderate physical activity
- Handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds
- Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
- Following extensive safety precautions
- Use of protective equipment
- OSHA training
- Participating in emergency response tasks as requested
- Serving on safety committees and teams as requested
- Completing all training requirements
- Adhering to all written and verbal instructions
- Promptly reporting and/or correcting all hazards or unsafe conditions
- Providing feedback to supervisors and management on all safety issues
- Properly determining the accuracy of reporting and billing
- Participating in compliance trainings
- Identifying and reporting any concerns or activities that may violate standards
- Being trained on the FHS Medicare Compliance Plan
- Being trained on the FHS Standards of Conduct
- Signing a Conflict of Interest Statement at hire and annually thereafter
- Being an active and willing PCMH team member
- Reading and understanding the general and specific operational, safety, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to this job
