Job Summary
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and surgeries. Assist doctors, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses with examinations, treatments, and special tests. Perform patient triage, check patients in, and obtain vital signs and medical history. Administer medications, apply sterile dressings, and process laboratory samples using established protocols. Educate patients and families regarding disease nature, proper care, and treatment. Maintain patient charts, record symptoms and reactions, and stock clinical supplies. Adhere to safety, environmental, and infection control standards while participating in required training and emergency response tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited LPN, Medical Assistant program
- State of Idaho LPN license in good standing
- Current CMA/MA certification
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories
- Knowledge of clinical and/or surgical operations and documentation
- Skill in performing clinical and medical procedures
- Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures
- Ability to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
- Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids
- Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
- Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress
- Ability to lift or move patients of various weights
- Moderate physical activity capability
- Ability to stand and/or walk for more than four (4) hours per day
- OSHA training
- Ability to handle potentially dangerous materials and situations requiring safety precautions
- Ability to follow extensive safety precautions
- Ability to use protective equipment
- Ability to work with blood or blood-borne pathogens
- Ability to complete all training requirements
- Ability to participate in emergency response tasks as requested
- Ability to serve on safety committees and teams as requested
- Ability to adhere to all written and verbal instructions
- Ability to promptly report and/or correct all hazards or unsafe conditions
- Ability to provide feedback to supervisors and management on all safety issues
- Ability to properly determine the accuracy of reporting and billing
- Ability to participate in compliance trainings
- Ability to identify and report any concerns or activities that may violate standards
- Ability to read and understand general and specific operational, safety, and environmental requirements
- Ability to participate as an active and willing PCMH team member
